The Woodbridge Family Centre provides student placement training and social work learning opportunities in a complex environment which is focused on high profile and child protection work, significant interagency liaison, working in multi-disciplinary teams, offering to develop knowledge and skills in relation to working with children and adults with particular needs as well as developing expertise around issues of parenting.
The Woodbridge Family Centre’s ethos is to work towards keeping families together as this is in the child’s interests. We aim to be child focused at all times but to support families to effect change and to work with respect and to treat them with dignity at all times. The staff and client group is extremely diverse and service users may have English as a second language and have complex immigration issues; assessments often have aspects of cultural sensitivity, Students must have a strong commitment to AOP.
Our respected student support program is quality assured by Lucy Mwape, Managing Director of The Woodbridge Family Centre. Lucy is and experienced Practice Manager, Professional Educator responsible for the training and support of students and Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSW) including conducting quality assurance activities to ensure child safeguarding standards are maintained. As a Professional Educator, Lucy is also involved in the management and coordination of activities related to social work education within the organisation in collaboration with universities.
